We made it to the south of France. We started by visiting a customer who develops special wheelchairs. Fortunately, we could make an interview and find out where and why our igus®-bearings are used. The video is under construction and will be available soon. Afterwards, we discovered the “Cité de l’espace” which is a large exhibition regarding aerospace.

We brought a ticket to the Moon…

On the way to our hotel in Castres, we drove through Toulouse and of course, we had to stop to take a photo in front of the Airbus HQ of France. igus®-products are used in the field of aerospace as well due to the light weight and maintenance-free operation. An example is the adjustment of the seats and the tables in front.

Finally, we arrived in Castres where we meet another customer tomorrow morning.

Spende-6

Donation-6

igus® will donate one Euro for each kilometer driven in every country. igus® France calculated the total distance in advance and wrote the number down. 5 – 6 – 5 – 8. Wow!

igus® France donated 5,658 Euro to the Association des Paralysés de France (APF). This is an organisation which supports handicapped people by building special needs facilities and handicapped accessible workshops. The latter can be found in Orly which will use the money to built an EDP area for education.

For us, it was a pleasure to visit APF and put a smile on their faces.

We wish you all the best,
Karl, Nils and Sandor

In Nantes, we visited “Les Machines De L’île” and the famous “Grand Éléphant”. This mechanical animal is 12 m high, powered by 62 pistons and a 450 PS Motor. Therefore, the 48 t elephant moves about 2 km/h and is only accessable via stairs. Furthermore, it sprayes water out of its trunk which is great fun for the children.

The dry-tech®-box took cover otherwise the elephant might think it’s a snack …

Review Netherlands

After the official start of our tour in Cologne at the igus® headquarter, it was time for the next country on the list: The Netherlands!

We spend 5 days in the small country and drove through it several times. Therefore, we collected more than 1000 km on the odometer. In fact, we visited a lot of customers which provided us interesting insights into their impressive applications. We were able to do a lot of interviews and produce some videos. After the permission of the customers, we will publish all the movies one by one.

Apart from work, we had some time to discover cities like Rotterdam or Amsterdam during day and night. The people of the Netherlands are very friendly and open minded. Nevertheless, Amsterdam was an unusual but lively city with all the thousands of bikes, coffee shops, public urinals and the red-light district.

When we arrived at Elcee which is a retailer of igus®, the iglidur®-car was welcomed like a legend of Formula One. Orange smoke everywhere! In the afternoon, the press conference took place followed by the charity event which included the handover of the check. igus® and Elcee donated 2,000 Euro to Opkikker.

At the end of our stay, we visited the booth of igus® at the Offshore Energy Exibition in Amsterdam, discovered another industry and met new colleagues.

All in all, we want to thank our colleagues and all customers for the great time we had. Our review summarizes the journey. Stay tuned for all the applications!

Bye,
Karl, Nils and Sandor

Apart from the Eiffeltower, one of the most recognisable landmarks in France is the Mont-Staint-Michel. It is an island commune in the Normandy, part of the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and visited by more than 3 million people anually. The island is located about 500 m off the coast, has an impressive abbey and 44 inhabitants.

After sunset, it was time for another lightgraffiti of iglidur®!

By the way, today we hit the 60,000 km of “iglidur® on tour” and it will get more!

Today, the iglidur®-car passed the Seine by driving over the Pont de Normandie. It is a cable-stayed bridge which spans the river Seine to link Honfleur and Le Harve in Normandy. The span of 856 m is the longest in Europe and very impressive. Nevertheless, one way costs 5.40 Euro …

The iglidur®-car is impressed by the span and structure of the Pont de Normandie.

There are four different Statues of Liberty in Paris and the one in the USA was a gift from France. We have found one on the Île aux Cygnes near the Eiffeltower. This 11.5 m high copy was a gift to Paris by the American inhabitans and it looks into the direction of the one in America.

This box and that statue are well known all over the world!
